Paolo Di Canio’s link to the Swindon Town hotseat gathered some serious pace today as talk of a meeting between the Italian and the club continued.
Di Canio was recently linked to the Newport County post but withdrew his application when his father fell ill.
The link to Swindon hasn’t faded and it has been enhanced by his agent, Phil Spencer, who, although stating that talks had taken place, he failed to rule out the move.
Spencer told the Swindon Advertiser that the current ‘situation is that Paolo has made it clear he wants to manage in England and I am pleased that he is linked with this job and other jobs… We do not know what will happen, though, and nothing has been discussed with Swindon or any other clubs.
Spencer concluded by saying that it was important to Di Canio tha ‘that the club shares the same views as the manager and I don’t know whether Swindon would be the right or wrong club for him.”
