Town interim chairman Jeremy Wray has said that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp praised Swindon Town for giving Paolo Di Canio his first chance in football management.

Redknapp was speaking in response of the West Ham United boards decision to not consider the possibility of appointing the popular Italian.

Wray told the Swindon Advertiser that Harry Redknapp gave his ‘a few words and he said we were on the right track and doing the right thing.’

Jeremy Wray continuted to say that the former West Ham, Portsmouth and Southampton manager gave the Italian plenty of ‘compliments and has nothing but confidence in Paolo’s ability to do a good job in management.

Redknapp gave his old club a dig by stating that Town’s decision to appoint Di Canio was ‘West Ham’s loss’ and Swindon’s gain.
