The League One campaign faces an uncertain future as the Portpin withdraw their offer to buy Portsmouth Football Club.

Pompey have no senior players apart from one on non-contract terms and fielded a team full of youth players last night in their inevitable defeat in the Capital One Cup. The manager Michael Appleton has already stated the club will be playing League Two football next season should the miraculously survive the current crisis.

It`s quite a demise for Portsmouth who just three years ago where in the Premier League with such star players as Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch before becoming the first Premier League team to slide into administration.

Pompey are on borrowed time now and should they not be able to reach an agreement with the Pompey Supporters Trust, it will be lights out for this once proud club.

Should Portsmouth go bust, they will become the first Football League Club since Aldershot Football Club to fold during the season.

Us at Vital Swindon Town feel for Pompey fans, we have been in the same situation, let’s hope they get through this and fans can start to chant ‘Play Up Pompey’ once again and worry only about Football.
