Swindon Town caretaker manager David Byrne has said he doesn`t want to leave the club even if he does not become the permanent manager.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser the man they call “Budgie” stated, “I don`t want to leave Swindon Town Football Club – I`ve made that perfectly clear to the chairman and the board, If that means that I drop back into the coaching staff, then so be it. “

Richard Money and Martin Ling are rumoured to be among the favourites although Ling`s current employer Leyton Orient have said they have received no approach from Swindon. Colin Calderwood at Nottingham Forest is also thought to be on the list but Forest are tight lipped over the future of the former Swindon captain.

The job appears to be Richard Money`s to lose right now and an announcement could be imminent although Chairman Andrew Fitton may wait to make an announcement until after he comes back from a business trip in America over the coming days.

On the subject of Byrne, Fitton has said that Byrne is still in the running to be the next Swindon Town manager although due to drawing games in the last few minutes his chances of landing the job full time have taken a hit.
