Jamie Cureton looks set to leave Swindon for an unknown club in a higher division who have offered the former Reading striker a 2-year-deal. It is well known that Cureton wants to play in the ‘highest level possible’ for the remainder of his career.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Cureton said, ‘It makes the decision harder but I am very conscious of the fact that I am 30 heading towards 31.
‘You only get one chance at a career in football and I want to play as high as I can for as long as I can’
‘But another year down the line, I?ll be another year older and out of contract. I don?t have time on my side’.

Cureton had a bad start to the 2005/2006 season but after scoring 7 goals whilst on loan at Colchester, looked rejuvinated on his return and netted 7 times for Swindon before drying up as the season came to a close.

Cureton missed several clear cut opportunities that had he scored, Swindon could still be in League One. Maybe his new club, thought to be Colchester United, aren’t fussed about strikers who can’t score from 3 yards out.
