One day after Skysport stated the intentions of Bolton Wanderers and Fulham to sign Simon Cox, the Swindon striker has moved quickly to deny such a move at this time.

In an article by the Evening Advertiser Cox stated that he didn’t want a return to his situation at Reading where he wasn’t playing every week and went on to say that he would not ‘go to someone like Bolton, for example, and sit on the bench and come on for five minutes one week or not play the next, because that`s rubbish‘. Cox reiterated his desire to stay in a starting XI.

What was possibly the most interesting part for Town fans was the suggestion that he might even sign a new deal which would either mean keeping him at the club for longer or allowing Swindon to demand a larger fee in the future!

Cox finished his interview by saying that if Danny Wilson offered him a new deal then he’d be willing to have a look but couldn’t ‘just go in to Nick Watkins and demand a new contract on X amount a week because he would tell me to do one‘.

Quite.

Coxy has a point, why not become more prolific here and earn a great deal in the future where he may get some games!
