Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Barry Corr is set to agree a contract with Swindon Town after enjoying a successful loan spell at the County Ground.

Speaking to the media on the prospect of becoming Town`s latest signing for the 2007/08 season Corr said, ‘I would like to stay here, of course I would. I have had a great time since coming here and want to make it permanent.

‘I have not sneaked away on holiday yet and will be in on Friday to have talks with the gaffer and then the chief-executive. I have to admit I don’t expect there to be any problems.’

Corr has had a problem with his back however the injury should not hinder contract negotiations.

Should Corr sign he is expected to work with the medical staff during pre-season and then start full training when the season begins. Medical staff have told Corr to rest his back over the Summer so he does not aggravate the problem.

He seems to have a good impact here and hopefully there is more too follow, as I’m sure he wasn’t firing on all cylinders.

I must say – for once I am impressed with Swindon. They have kept or are keeping all of their key players, not like in previous seasons where key players contracts have lapsed and they have left on freebies.

Corr looks a very good striker, a good all rounder. We still need a goalscorer though, if we had one this season we would have won the league.
