Swindon Town drop to 9th in the League One table following a 2-2 draw at the County Ground on Saturday.

The largely disappointing affair exposed Town’s defensive frailties and showed why Town need to get some reinforcements in as soon as possible.

Things got off to a decent start and Town were rewarded on 27 minutes with a goal by Michael Smith which ensured the game went into half Town 1-0 to Swindon.

After the break Town’s defence were once again challenged and Colchester levelled thanks to a rebounded shot by Rhys Healey.

Town would quickly get back in the game though with Michael Smith scoring his second to make it 2-1 Town after converting a cross from Massimo Luongo.

Gavin Massey ensured Colchester returned home with a share of the points after another blunder by Town’s defence which was slotted home past Wes Foderingham.

Town manager Mark Cooper took note of Town’s defensive woes and introduced Norwich Loanee Harry Toffolo to replace the largely woeful Amari’i Bell.
