Swindon Town striker Paul Benson who spent the majority of last season on loan at Portsmouth and Cheltenham Town has been made available for transfer.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, Benson has indicated he is not keen on a move to fierce rivals Oxford United whom he had been offered too.

Benson is believed to be keen on remaining in the south with a return to Pompey his favoured destination although it is not known if they are keen to bring back the man who scored 2 goals for them whilst on loan last season.

Benson was originally told he was part of Town manager Kevin MacDonald’s plans for next season but as it turns out, Benson appears to be a casualty of the boards cost cutting measures to get Town back to about normal levels in League One in terms of wages.

The current board are keen to get plenty of good youth products on board at lower costs after Paolo Di Canio and crew spent stupid amounts on wages.
