VITAL SWINDON TOWN GROUND REVIEW: Ricoh Arena, Home of Coventry City FC

The Ground – The ground itself it’s modern soulless bowl. I would hate if the County Ground was redeveloped into this identikit ground which has had the atmosphere sucked out of it. On the upside it wouldn’t look out of shape in the Premier League if the Sky Blues got back there and was the only Football League ground to host Olympic Football matches during the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Home Fans – We had a couple of issues of big mouthed Coventry fans telling us to ‘F*** OFF’ as we sang outside the ground before the match as well a two louts that challenged a group of fans to a fight.

Parking – Plenty of Parking at the ground and on near by streets within a 10-15 minute walk.

Stewarding – Stewards were fine and even let those who smoke have a fag at half time. This is what all grounds should do to prevent fans having a crafty fag in the bogs or in the stands at half time.

Food – No Hot Dogs or Burgers at half time, Worst pie I’ve ever had at football. Rock hard on top and the gravy was runny rubbish in the steak pie.

Away Fans Pub – We drank on Fosse Way before heading into Coventry but are told there was a cracking pub about 2 miles away called the Greyhound which is on the Canal.

Overall – It’s another ground to tick off the list and its pretty close so would probably go again. Can see why Coventry crowds are quite poor. It doesn’t feel like home to them and it’s easy to see why. Was a cracking day out due in part to us winning 2-1 and taking 3,000 away fans. If it was a loss the day would have been a waste apart from the company of mates.
