Swindon have had their first bid for Poole Town striker Charlie Austin turned down.

The Swindon Evening Advertiser reported the deal ‘dead’ after Town chairman Andrew Fitton’s offer was turned down and Poole chairman Clive Robbins’ counter offer was refused by the Wiltshire club.

However, reports in Dorset suggest that the deal of still on despite the difference in opinion over the prolific goalscorers valuation.

I haven’t seen much of the lad- but if he has impressed Danny Wilson so much after such a long trial period then he must be a bit better than our last few non- league signings!

Let’s hope that Fitton can dig deep enough in his pocket to nab him from Poole.

Charlie Austin will sign today I imagine. There will always be negotiations and disagreements over valuation.

There are always discussions- its just with Swindon it always seems that the discussions take forever and the deals are never done!
