Swindon Town have signed striker Adebayo Akinfenwa who was a free agent after rejecting a contract at Swansea City at the end of last season.

Akinfenwa joins Town after turning down several clubs including rivals Gillignahm. Bayo as he was known to Swansea fans, signs an initial one year deal assuming he passes a physical.

Akinfenwa season came to an early end after breaking his leg against Scunthorpe United last season and will miss the start of the season for Swindon along with fellow new striker Bary Corr.

Speaking to the official Swindon Town website manager Paul Sturrock said, “We have signed Adebayo Akinfenwa on the proviso that he passes the second part of his medical. The first part of the medical took place today and the second part will take place over the weekend. Hopefully we will be in a position to confirm that everything has gone through, on Monday.”

Should be a decent signing for you, very good targetman and isn’t too bad with the ball at his feet. Can be a defender’s worst nightmare marking the heaviest player in league football. He has his down sides though in that his weight sometimes delays his return from injury, like last season when he had a strain of some sort. Also broke his leg last season, and if it goes again he could be in trouble.

Straight choice between us and Swindon? No choice whatsoever. Should be mocking him or *****ed off because he chose the enemy, but given the state of our squad and its incompetent manager, I’d bloody play for Swindon first too.
