It seems like only yesterday but yes 14 years ago today Swindon Town were promoted to the Premier League after a 4-3 win against Leicester City at Wembley.

Goals from Glenn Hoddle, Craig Maskell, Shaun Taylor and a penalty scored by Paul Bodin ensured Swindon Town would play top flight football for the first time ever.

Town went up 3-0 before Leicester pulled it back to 3-0 in a game which many consider to be the best playoff final ever at the old Wembley Stadium.

Town were promoted to the old Division One in 1990 before the club were found to have financial irregularites and were relegated 2 divisions.

Town would go on to concede the most goals ever in a Premiership season, a record that still stands to this day. The following season the club would be relegated to Division 2 despite Manager John Gorman declaring ‘We will be back where we belong’

Swindon have been on a steady freefall since the Premiership season of 1993/94 going into administration twice.
